einXs 2026: A Week of Open Technology at Hangar

For a week in late October, Hangar runs open technology. The orbital collective einxs fills the Barcelona art production centre with its annual digital culture cycle, einXs, from the 22nd to the 28th.

The programme treats technology as a commons. Workshops, critical dialogues, and performing arts build a picture of tools that serve people and stay open. Everything leans transfeminist and intersectional, and the organizers say it plainly: another tech is possible, closer and more accessible.

Anna Mundet Molas opens with a talk-workshop called Let's Stop the Machines. It takes on digital degrowth, permacomputing and (s)low-tech, and asks what computing looks like inside planetary limits. That runs the morning of the 22nd, from 10:00 to 10:45 in Sala Ricson. The same room hosts ComfyUI in Creative Processes at 11:00, a hands-on session on server setup, workflow organisation, interpolation, upscaling and background removal. Bring a laptop. Each workshop costs a symbolic €5 so seats do not go unused, and registration is on ticketic.org.

The dialogues ask who technology is built for. Heidi Ramírez and Marta Delatte examine the default user, the fiction of a neutral body that design assumes. Cora Novoa and La Instrumental take on music: platformisation, how value flows, and what generative AI does to authorship. Ada Byron closes the cycle on the 28th with Situated Reporting, a free session at 7 pm. Most talks are free, and the programme includes Catalan Sign Language interpretation.

Two performing arts evenings follow on the 30th. Silvia Clotet and Nara is Neus improvise between graphic art and sound. Anna Subirana and Aurora Gasull turn words into images in front of the room. Both start at 7 pm in Sala Ricson, free.

einXs PRO runs in parallel at Hangar, part of the same push for community-built infrastructure. The full programme lives on the Hangar agenda page, and workshop seats are booked on ticketic.org. Links: https://hangar.org/en/agenda-hangar/einxs-2026/ and https://einxs.cat/.
