Hangar Obert 2026: a day of open studios in Barcelona

On Saturday 19 September, Hangar opens all its doors. The art production centre in the Poblenou district of Barcelona runs Hangar Obert, a full day where resident artists, resident projects and community members throw open their studios. Working processes become public. Research in progress gets shown mid-stride, not finished.

Hangar is a factory floor for art, the kind of place where work happens in rooms with machines, screens and half-built things. Open studios are the point: you walk in and see practice as it actually lives, before the exhibition polish. The day also carries a live broadcast by dublab BCN, guided tours and a communal lunch, and it winds down with a celebratory programme of performances and DJ sets.
