Tehran Gets Its First Processing Community Day This October

Tehran gets its first Processing Community Day on October 16. The event runs at the Iran Computer Museum, in the Majidieh district, and stretches into a week of talks, workshops, and exhibitions.

PCD is the yearly gathering organized by the Processing Foundation in cities around the world. Local organizers build the program themselves. Tehran's edition is put together by Pedram Sadegh-Beyki and Arash Ebrahimifar of the Art and Technology Group, an Iranian collective that teaches code and interactive media in Persian.

Opening day brings keynote talks from Zahra Zargari, Mohammadreza Nemati, and Ali Motamedi. After that the week fills with hands-on workshops, live coding sessions, panel conversations, student project presentations, and a screening. A code-art exhibition stays up in the museum for the whole run, with invited artists from Iran and abroad.

The program is a first for the city, but the format is familiar from two decades of community days. People show what they made, beginners get a patient introduction to Processing and p5.js, and many sessions end with someone building in front of a room. The organizers' call for submissions closed in September. Public registration opens on October 7, and the full program is announced before that.

Everything happens at the museum on Ostad Hassan Banna street, from late morning to evening. Registration details: https://www.atgiran.ir/PCDTehran2026. The event also has a page on the worldwide PCD map: https://day.processing.org/event/pcd-tehran-2026-ccefec1/.
